eNAT®
DWS is an authorised distributor for COPAN’s Liquid Based Microbiology (LBM) range. In addition to the eSwab®, we are now able to offer eNAT®.
eNAT® is a sample collection and transport system ideal for use with highly infectious agents as it contains a detergent and protein denaturant. It can inactivate bacterial and viral cells, including influenza A, MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Mycoplasma hominis, Neisseria gonorroeae and Chlamydiae trachomatis within 30 minutes whilst preserving the DNA/RNA molecular testing. Once the sample has been inactivated in this way, it can be stored for 4 weeks at room temperature, or up to 6 months at -20oC. This allows the sample to be stored for back up purposes and means samples can be retested, if needed, as opposed to having to take another sample from a patient.
Viability inactivation ensures extra safety during the handling, transportation, and processing of specimens, which is vital during pandemics.
