Don Whitley Scientific have been part of the Oblong Trees scheme for the past three years. Oblong trees have been an important way for our company to offset its carbon footprint. The initiative plants trees on behalf of Don Whitley Scientific, amongst many other companies, around the world to help combat deforestation and climate change.
It is estimated that on behalf of DWS, Oblong Trees have planted 104,000 trees across the globe. Australia, Malawi, Peru, and the UK are amongst the places where our trees can be found. As a company who have a comprehensive environmental plan in place and have obtained accreditation to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, initiatives like Oblong Trees help us to go one step further.
As well as this programme we also recycle what we can including bubble wrap, reduce our paper usage, invest in providing more recyclable packaging and have purchased electric vehicles. These are just some of the ways we actively aim to be more environmentally conscious.
The Committee on Climate Change reported that the UK would need to plant 1.5 billion more trees to go carbon neutral. As there isn’t enough room in the UK for 1.5 billion trees, Oblong Trees plant globally with the aim of hitting this major accomplishment. Don Whitley Scientific are proud to be a part of the process in helping this charity achieve it's goals.
