Every year Don Whitley Scientific chooses a local charity to support, and in 2019 we put our efforts to raising money for Leeds Cares: the official charity partner of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. With the help of a variety of events, raffles, bake and book sales held throughout the year, we are delighted to announce that we have raised £3,740 for this wonderful organisation.
We were visited by representatives of the charity on Friday, 24th January and our Managing Director, Paul Walton (pictured right) and Accounts Manager Julie Robinson (centre), presented a cheque to Codie Heneachon (left) from Leeds Cares.
We chose to support this particular charity in honour of of our friend and colleague, Steve Whitley, who sadly passed away at the end of 2018. Steve was instrumental in the refurbishment of our new premises in Bingley and contributed immensely to cementing the company's legacy.
Steve's father - our founder and Chairman, Dr Don Whitley, also tragically passed away a few months after his son. Many generous donations were received in both Steve and Don's names, and we hope that the money raised in their memory will contribute towards The Leeds Teaching Hospitals continuing to provide high quality patient care and research in all fields of medicine.
